Details of the fire at the Russian nuclear submarine station became known
Details of the fire at a nuclear submarine station in the Russian Severomorsk, which killed 14 submarine officers, have become known, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Russian media report this.
The device on which the fire occurred is the Losharik nuclear submarine station (AS-12), Novaya Gazeta writes, citing sources (the Ministry of Defense did not specify the type of deep-sea vehicle, noting only that it is a research vehicle). The AS-12 station was developed in the 1980s. Its carrier, according to open sources, is a single submarine - BS-136 Orenburg, part of the Northern Fleet. AS-12 participated, among other things, in the 2012 expedition to the Lomonosov Ridge, during which data was collected so that Russia could claim to expand the boundaries of the Arctic shelf.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator reported, 14 submariners died in a fire on a deep-sea vehicle of the Russian Navy. The incident occurred on July 1, but it became known only the next day. The cause of death of the submariners was poisoning from combustion products. What caused the fire is still unknown. The Ministry of Defense notes that the fire broke out during bathymetric measurements in Russian territorial waters. Now the source of the fire has been eliminated, the device is located at the naval base in Severomorsk.
