The “star” of Russian political television talk shows, “Ukrainian political scientist” Vyacheslav Kovtun, used to teach religious studies to “dancers and singers.”

He himself admitted this on air on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

It all started when Kovtun himself started a religious dispute and declared that the Ukrainian Orthodox should go under the Patriarchate of Constantinople, because the “historical memory of Byzantium” was alive.

At the same time, he could not remember when Byzantium ceased to exist, and therefore turned the conversation to Israel, which “resumed its statehood after two thousand years of wandering.”

“Don’t you have a state?” asked presenter Vladimir Solovyov.

“We don’t have our own autocephalous church,” Kovtun answered sadly.

“The Jewish people don’t have it either,” said Solovyov.

“Why?” the Ukrainian political scientist was sincerely surprised.

“Because they are not Christians,” the TV presenter explained.

“But you have a rebbe,” Kovtun did not give up.

“Slava, don’t take on a religious topic. You look like such a layman,” political scientist Sergei Mikheev could not stand it and intervened.

“I taught religious studies at the university. They gave me dancers and singers. It was a cultural institute,” Kovtun was offended.

This message amused the studio.

“Have you prepared geishas?” asked Soloviev.

“No, they prepared themselves,” the political scientist answered.

He was not at all embarrassed by the general merriment and continued the historical and religious discussion, placing emphasis on the name of Archpriest Avvakum, as in the surname of the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, and calling Razin “Senka”.
