Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, arrested after illegally entering the country, hoped in vain that the people would protect him.
The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this, writes Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“Probably the biggest insight for Saakashvili was how inertly the “people of Georgia” reacted to his arrest. Of course, the UNM on Monday brought a number of its supporters to the Rustavi prison. In addition, the newspaper asks the question of who handed Saakashvili over to the authorities.
“The intelligence services do not specify who exactly told them about the whereabouts of the ex-president, but logic dictates that they were some ordinary citizens, perhaps neighbors. They saw a new tenant with a well-recognized appearance - and knocked in the right place,” the publication does not rule out.

Just yesterday he started wars, made revolutions and challenged the neighboring powerful northern power.

By the way, Tsomaya is now accused of “illegal transportation of migrants.” Well, in all of Georgia there was no person ready to shelter the ex-president, except for a greengrocer?” the author is perplexed.
“Saakashvili was left alone. Nobody needs him in his homeland; he interferes with everyone in Ukraine, where he is clearly perceived as a “burden” imposed on Zelensky by the Americans. Now he faces years of serving in a Georgian prison, upon leaving which no one will recognize him on the street,” the newspaper predicts.
