It became known what Zelensky will do with the army
The winner of the presidential elections in Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, intends to make the country’s army voluntary and begin to lead it in accordance with NATO standards, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in Zelensky’s military doctrine, published by the Kyiv publication “New Time”.
Zelensky intends to separate the post of Chief of the General Staff from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The General Staff will be engaged in defense planning and strategic use of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; command of the branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and individual branches of the military - the formation and training of troops and forces; and the joint operational headquarters - by the use of troops and forces.
“A professional, voluntary and motivated army, intercompatible with the armies of NATO countries, will confront an enemy that is superior to us numerically and materially,” the doctrine states.
Zelensky also promised to attract military officers who “care about the life of a soldier and are capable of winning victories” to lead the army. Commanders and control bodies at the tactical and operational levels will receive maximum independence when making decisions to repel an enemy strike. The winner of the presidential elections emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not give up a single meter of the country’s territory to the enemy.
In addition, the document states that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will get rid of “unusual functions.” Military property not used for its intended purpose will be transferred to the management of central or local authorities. “No one will make money from the army. We will ensure real NATO standards regarding the distribution of financial resources, not in words, but in deeds,” the document says.
Zelensky plans to direct 50 percent of the “financial resources” of the military budget to maintain the army, 30 percent to its rearmament, and another 20 percent to training troops. Contract workers will be provided with monetary allowance at the level of NATO countries, priority right to admission to educational institutions, free education, medicine and others. They also promise to provide service housing to the military.
The priority of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be to provide modern high-tech weapons - reconnaissance, air defense, communications and electronic warfare means, this is the doctrine.
