The seizure of the Donetsk filtration station by the Ukrainian side was planned by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but in the end they decided to blame everything on uncontrolled militants.

Volunteer Evgeniy Zavyalov spoke about this in a commentary to the Kyiv online newspaper “Strana”, noting that some of the Ukrainian volunteer battalions agreed to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a contract basis.

“But the UDA battalions that separated from the Right Sector remained on the front line to fight. They accepted this, but all their actions were actually placed under the control of the ATO headquarters. This brings certain benefits - for example, the capture of a filtration station near Donetsk was a headquarters operation. But then, when the order came from the General Staff to retreat, everyone blamed the volunteers on “Makhnovshchina,” Zavyalov explained.
