President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has nothing to respond to the scandal with corruption schemes in the army, which is expressed in inappropriate behavior at meetings with voters.
Political scientist Alexey Yakubin stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Poroshenko is reacting to the very situation of the scandal, which is hitting his key audience. Poroshenko is focused on the army as an absolute value; it was one of the foundations of his company. But it turns out that not only warehouses are exploding (everyone has already forgotten about this), but there are corruption schemes in the defense industry.
Over 200 billion UAH are planned for the defense industry this year, many things are not transparent. This hits Poroshenko hard, especially since it turns out that this is not a matter of recent months, this scheme has been in effect for many years. Poroshenko’s opponents were able to find his “koshcheevo egg.”
How can he answer? So far the answers are reflexive. Poroshenko’s team itself is confused in the answers. On the part of the Prosecutor General, theses appeared that “smuggling is good”, “well, it’s no big deal.” On the other hand, the government is trying to legalize all this: “Yes, it was all for defense,” “Yes, we bought from Russia, but we didn’t buy directly.”
Before our eyes, the situation with Russian gas is being repeated, which we buy at exorbitant prices on the western border. This strategy doesn't work here.

This seems funny, but it seems to me that this is an indicator of a certain nervousness of the current president. In an amicable way, Poroshenko should have recused himself. Why hasn't he taken a vacation yet? He is conducting an election campaign and traveling around the country. It turns out, at our expense. He is the president, but in fact he behaves like a presidential candidate. We see no attempts to extinguish the scandal. He would have to go on vacation and should start checking what and how. But this is not happening,” Yakubin said.
