It became known why Lukashenko sent his emissary to an anti-Russian gathering
Participation of the Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus in meeting with US National Security Adviser John Bolton in Warsaw together with representatives of Poland and Ukraine - one of the stages of the plan of Alexander Lukashenko, who maneuvers and tries to maintain “independence”, evading real integration with Russia and fulfilling the points of the agreement on the creation of the Union State.
The Russian Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Lukashenko is afraid of full integration with the Russian Federation and is trying on the role of a peacemaker, enlisting the support of Ukraine, Poland and Washington,” the publication explains.
As Belarusian political scientist Yaroslav Romanchuk told the publication, Lukashenko, through his representative at the meeting in Warsaw, promoted the initiative to include Belarus in the format of the “Normandy Four” (Ukraine, Russia, Germany, France), to which President Vladimir Zelensky proposed to join the EU and the United States.
The idea of joining Minsk and Washington was already discussed during the recent meeting between Lukashenko and Bolton in Belarus, after which the “dad” called Vladimir Putin.
“Lukashenko is very afraid of the complete integration of Belarus with Russia, which, in fact, was said by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin. This includes a single currency, common industries, etc. Therefore, Lukashenko plays on several fields - European, Russian, American. And he offers everyone something that they do not reject - the peacekeeping services of Belarus, which has maintained “brotherly”, in Lukashenko’s words, relations with Ukraine. The President of Belarus is an experienced player, and he sometimes manages to maneuver on the verge of a foul. This time he is trying to squeeze into the “Normandy format” and gain political weight, which will be useful to him in the multi-move in relations with Russia, as well as in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections in his country. Peacekeeping efforts will help him gain the support of the electorate,” Romanchuk explained.
