Old school Sean Connery: man, Scot, idol
Let's get this straight: I don't like the James Bond epic. Neither book nor film. It was made as propaganda, albeit of high quality, designed to serve not artistic, but political, ideological purposes. And generally quite boring.
But! I like Sean Connery as Agent 007. Bond, James Bond. Well, isn't he wonderful? With his signature look, precise intonations, sculpted muscles, a woolen carpet on his chest. Stop, otherwise it won’t take long for you to get carried away by European values...
There will be no sadness in this text. No. Because Sean Connery lived a phenomenal life. He became a symbol not just of a generation, as is the case with some, but of masculinity as such. And he passed away at the age of 91. In a dream. This grace is not given to everyone. So why cry? Although this year has taken away many, too many.
But I definitely understand why Sean Connery left now. His very life, quite possibly, irritated the adherents and luminaries of the brave new world. The one where gadgets replaced souls. The one where men no longer love women. The one where women choose radical feminism. The one where everything got mixed up.
We were promised women in the role of Bond. How would Connery live with this? But the point here is not about the woman 007, no. The point is that the last times look exactly like this: when everything is mixed up, and crowds of sick people prove to the healthy that they are not like that, because they are in the minority. Tolerance, BLM, globalism - Connery did not fit into this phenomenal boredom at all.
It was made from a different material in a different era. The one where men remained men. The one where women kept their femininity. Born in Edinburgh, he chose between a football career (Connery invited Manchester United to watch) and an acting career. He chose the latter, and before that he showed off in bodybuilding (the forerunner of Schwarzenegger - only much thinner and smarter).
Everyone remembers that Sean Connery will remain the best James Bond for centuries. This goes without saying. But I like him more, for example, in the film “The Name of the Rose” (an adaptation of the gorgeous novel by Umberto Eco). And when I need to give an epithet to the actor Sean Connery (although, of course, I will not receive such an honor), I will remember his masculinity, his look, but I will say something else - a smart actor. Exactly. An actor with a perfect sense of intonation and detail. Sean Connery didn't even play on facial expressions, but on micro-expressions.
And yes, his position on Scotland – isn’t it wonderful? Ivanhoe, no less. Connery said that he would not return to his homeland until it separated from England. I didn't have time, unfortunately. Who knows, maybe everything is ahead. But not for him anymore.
The world has changed. Transformed. Mutated. And it’s becoming increasingly difficult for people like Sean Connery to live in it. But they remain - as a reminder, as a testament. Looking at Sean Connery, I use this epithet - “real”. Old school. They don't do things like that now. Yes, kids. Remember the Scottish grandfather - he is forever great.
Thank you!
