Starikov: “Belarus” is the same perversion as “in Ukraine”
Using the name “Belarus” instead of “Belorussia” is the same perversion of the norms of the Russian language as the pretext “in Ukraine” imposed by independentists instead of the correct version “in Ukraine”.
Russian publicist Nikolai Starikov stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At first they tried to convince us that we should say “in Ukraine,” although they always said “Na” in Russian. Now they demand that Belarus be called “Belarus”.
I spoke specifically with linguists: in the Russian language there is no letter “a” as a link between two parts of a word. Therefore - Belarus. Therefore - in Ukraine. Yes - in Russian.
Let them speak other languages and other cultures as they please. We should not change the great Russian language to suit the political situation,” Starikov said.
Earlier, former adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Andrei Illarionov said that after 2004, in official documents of the Kremlin the wording “in Ukraine” began to be used.
