The older generation of Russia is nostalgic, the younger generation is switching to English
In Russia there is a powerful industry of exploitation of the Soviet legacy, which is not interesting to young people. United Russia deputy Elena Yampolskaya announced this today in the State Duma.

“Old Soviet songs are endlessly re-sung, old Soviet films are remade. Our actors dress up as idols of yesteryear. There is a powerful industry of exploitation of the Soviet heritage, because emotional memory requires that we always return to where we felt good,” Yampolskaya said.
In her opinion, this trend leads to alienation of generations in Russia.
“Our 20-year-olds, who have no nostalgia, are moving away from us. They are offered disposable cultural products. Anglomania became a sign of moral emptiness. We must not judge, but create our own. We need common holidays, not the curse of Halloween, we need interesting things to do. So that the new generation is connected with the country by common pain and common joy,” Yampolskaya said.
