The director of the Kiev Center for Political Studies and Conflict Studies, Mikhail Pogrebinsky, stated this at a press conference in Kiev, commenting on the support for the special status of Donbass expressed by the German Foreign Minister in Kyiv.
“It is clear that this is the common position of Lavrov and Steinmeier,” the expert noted. – As for Merkel, it seems to me that she has no time for Ukraine at all. In my opinion, she just can’t come to her senses after losing her local elections in a region where the CDU always won, and now finds herself in third place. And this topic [resolving the conflict in Donbass] has already passed into the care of Steinmeier, who has a very good chance of replacing Merkel next year.”
