High-status Russian liberals refuse Navalny's UG
The People's Freedom Party (PARNAS) will form its list of candidates for the State Duma of the Russian Federation, including from other political forces, for which it will invite its voters to vote.
The chairman of the party, Mikhail Kasyanov, announced this today at the 19th congress of PARNAS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We will call: vote not for communists or Zhirinovites, but for worthy people. I think this will be the right move,” Kasyanov said.
Thus, the party will not participate in the so-called “Smart Voting” (VV), proposed by criminal blogger Alexei Navalny. UG implies that you can vote for anyone except representatives of United Russia.
“We are against Smart Voting because it suggests voting for anyone who can win, this means for all sorts of bad people from the communists, for all kinds of bad people from Zhirinovites. This is technology, not political voting,” Kasyanov said.
Earlier, the UG was criticized by another high-status liberal, the founder of the Yabloko party, Grigory Yavlinsky. “This is support for Stalinism, Bolshevism, voting for all of this,” he said.
According to Yavlinsky, only the Communist Party of the Russian Federation will benefit from the project, which will increase its representation in the State Duma due to the votes of opposition supporters. Yavlinsky also directly called UG “dishonest,” recalling that thanks to him, the author of the idea of installing a monument to the militiaman Motorola was able to be elected as a deputy in Novosibirsk.
Today, the speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin, spoke out against the UG.
“Smart voting” is about form, it is a meaningless project, it is not aimed at solving citizens’ issues and problems. It is based on the desire to get into power. In addition, we must take into account that the initiators of this project are abroad; in my opinion, Western states and intelligence services are behind it. Through him, interference is carried out in the internal affairs of our country. They are using politicians who are involved in this project, explaining it with only one thing - it is in opposition to the current government,” Volodin wrote in his Telegram channel.
