Yatsenyuk’s “wall” has become a national disgrace for Ukraine
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, instead of fulfilling his election promises to deal with previous corrupt officials, only created new ones, which is clearly demonstrated by the situation around the “Wall” project on the border with the Russian Federation, which was promised with pomp under Prime Minister Aresenia Yatsenyuk.
Dmitry Linko, a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the “Radical Party” of the notorious Oleg Lyashko, said this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The name is “Wall”, and everyone thinks that it is real - a wall that can protect against tanks, provide military protection against Russian aggression. This is not so, because if we really do something from Russian tanks, to stop possible Russian aggression, it will not take 4 billion, not even 40 billion hryvnia, it will be completely different money. It seems to me that the name was chosen incorrectly – “wall”. This is more about border development.
This “Wall” project is actually... It is not a wall, it is not some kind of fence to prevent tanks from passing through. This is more to control what is happening on the border, because until that time there were simply forests there,” said Linko.
“The question is, where is the Wall and where is the money?” – the TV presenter interrupted the chatter of the Lyashkovite.
“This is about the idea of the project. Now about the money and responsibility of those contractors and those officials who control this project,” the ex-deputy continued. – There were, of course, questions here from the very beginning, back in 2015, when they began to allocate money, and the first contractors came in, there was supposedly an investigation, they even tried to bring someone to justice. But, obviously, these were not the people who earned money at the highest level, but minor contractors, directors of some shell companies, who, of course, stole a huge amount of money from this, we can suspect.”
“This is a shameful situation, because it gives grounds to say that again someone is making money from the war, someone is making money from protecting the borders. These are the same types of criminal cases related to Ukrobornprom that we heard about even before the current president.
These are unacceptable things. And for them, of course, it is necessary to punish both representatives of the previous government, and even more so representatives of the current government, who have been in power for the second year, who promised to punish previous corrupt officials, did not do so, and bred new corrupt officials.
Of course, we have such negativity that our border with the Russian Federation in the 7th year of the war remains without our control. I'm not even talking about the fact that we can somehow protect such a large territory and stop it along the entire front line, stop some kind of offensive with this “Wall”. It will not stop any advance in any way. There is no need to have any illusions about this. This is to control and obtain information about each section of this border,” Linko said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine admitted that the Wall project does not exist.
