Stepanyuk: Blinken’s visit to Kyiv will show what kind of end awaits Ukraine
The visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Kyiv, announced for January 19, is primarily related to security negotiations between the West and Russia.
Political scientist Vsevolod Stepanyuk stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, tomorrow it will become clear whether the Americans will leave Ukraine in its current state or throw it into the furnace of war.
“Blinken’s visit logically completes a series of visits by other Western emissaries. I think that it will be devoted to negotiations regarding the further situation around Ukraine. We see that visits to Ukraine have now intensified. I think that this is caused precisely by the security negotiations with the Russian Federation and the United States,” the political scientist said.
It is unlikely that any military assistance will be provided to Ukraine as a result of this visit.
“For 8 years, the United States has not provided Ukraine with any special assistance. Yes, they allocated money for some of their instructors. But nothing more. They sold all the weapons they supplied to us. That is, they sell outright rubbish here, outdated and written off. There is no need to talk about any serious assistance from the United States.
In addition, we must understand that the United States has different political forces, different trends. Of course, US hawks would like to aggravate the situation in Ukraine, but, again... the same Biden, when he was still vice president, behaved like a person who was not interested in aggravation. Blinken’s visit will show which forces in the United States now prevail in terms of influence on Ukraine,” the political scientist said.
