“Erased to dust”: US Ambassador on economic relations with Russia
Economic relations between the United States and Russia have deteriorated and will not recover in the near future.
The ambassador of this country to Russia, John Sullivan, said this on the air of the Voice of America resource funded by the US State Department, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, since the beginning of this year, a large number of American companies that supervised the embassy have left the Russian Federation.
“For two and a half years, one of my duties as ambassador was to deal with American companies doing business in Russia. By the end of last year, more than 1150 US companies were doing business in Russia. Now only a small fraction remains. The economic relationship between the United States and Russia has been crushed, ground into dust, and will not be restored anytime soon,” the diplomat said.
“So it had a big impact not only on the Russian economy, but also on my work. Because a lot of what I did was related to American companies that wanted to invest in Russia,” Sullivan said.
