A collision in the Sea of Azov is already inevitable
The situation in the Sea of Azov, where Russian border guards have tightened inspections of ships heading to Ukrainian ports after the seizure of the fishing trawler Nord, will continue to escalate.
This was stated by Kiev political scientist Vadim Karasev, whose opinion is quoted by Kommersant.
The publication notes that pro-presidential forces are against the denunciation of the treaty recognizing the Sea of Azov as internal to Russia and Ukraine, but at the same time they advocate strengthening the Ukrainian military presence here.
“Even if the agreement on the Sea of Azov is not denounced, the increased military presence in it will cause serious tension. Just imagine the situation: a Ukrainian merchant ship, accompanied by patrolmen, is approaching the Kerch Strait and the Crimean Bridge. Russian security forces will inevitably react to this. In such a situation, a collision is inevitable,” Karasev predicts.
At the same time, as PolitNavigator reported, in Ukraine, in response to the situation in the Sea of Azov threaten Russia “harsh measures by special operations forces.”
In addition, the former commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Sergei Gaiduk proposed to mine the Sea of Azov.
