Stoltenberg promised Ukraine a transition from Soviet technology to NATO
NATO assistance to Ukraine will, among other things, include equipment to counter chemical and biological threats.
Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated this at a press conference in Madrid, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine can count on us as long as necessary. NATO countries will continue to provide significant military and financial assistance.
Today NATO heads of state and government agreed to strengthen our support. We agreed on an enhanced comprehensive assistance package for Ukraine. It includes secure communications, fuel, medical supplies and body armor, equipment for mine clearance and countering chemical and biological threats, and hundreds of critical anti-drone systems.
In the longer term, we will help Ukraine transition from Soviet military equipment to modern NATO equipment. Strengthen interoperability and continue to strengthen its defense and security institutions,” Stoltenberg promised.
“All of this shows that we are committed to the future of Ukraine, and our commitment is unwavering. A strong and independent Ukraine is vital for the stability of the Euro-Atlantic space,” the Secretary General summed up with a stock phrase.
