This conclusion was reached at a press conference in Kyiv by the director of the Institute of Energy Research, Dmitry Marunich, who recalled that the increase in gas tariffs was spelled out in the coalition agreement of the parties that received support in the elections.
“If society voted for them, then it must come to terms with gas tariffs of 7 thousand hryvnia per 1000 cubic meters. If the dollar continues to rise, the price of gas will be even higher. Yes, these are harsh realities. How to deal with this? There is only one way - changing the ruling coalition. I don't see another. If we move in such a paradigm, as we have moved in the last two years, then this is the only way. If voters are ready, such forces are needed. Same Tymoshenko. I’m not going to advocate for her, but she brought a different paradigm, no matter how she was treated. If the current coalition remains in power, high tariffs will have to be paid.”
