Kiev residents are protesting against another tariff increase from July 1, 2016. The protesters demanded a moratorium on increasing prices for electricity, heating, natural gas, hot and cold water supply, housing and communal services, canceling all regulatory decisions on increases starting January 1, 2015, and conducting an independent audit of tariffs.
“If you give 3 thousand UAH, then please tell me what people should live for? You leave absolutely no means for subsistence. This is genocide of the Ukrainian people!” – said Oksana Kostyukevich, representing the Kyiv Salvation Forum.
The protesters held signs reading “STOP! – tariff genocide!”, “Gang – get out!” (this is the slogan with which they recently marched in Kyiv for the overthrow of Yanukovych) and chanted “Groysman - to the people!” They also tried to block Grushevsky Street near the Cabinet of Ministers, but the police prevented this.
