Lukashenko’s supporters will never go out to disperse the Maidan - political scientist
Most Belarusians are aware that a catastrophe occurred in Ukraine after the Maidan, and do not want a similar scenario in their country.
Russian political scientist Sergei Markov stated this on air on the NSN TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Belarusians know the results of the Ukrainian Maidan, if the Ukrainians knew these results, they would have torn apart Klitschko, Yatsenyuk and Turchinov. The disaster happened there.
The standard of living in the country has halved, Crimea has been lost, Donbass has been lost, civil war, Nazis on the streets, there is no sovereignty, everything is controlled by foreigners and the country is being completely plundered. Belarusians look at Ukraine and are ready to tear to pieces with their own hands those people who go to rallies,” Markov said.
The political scientist also explained why Lukashenko’s supporters do not go to rallies or engage in street clashes.
“I’ll immediately answer the question why people don’t take to the Belarusian streets to suppress these protests. Because the people behind Lukashenko are conservative, conformist, people for power, calm, family-oriented and of older generations.
Can you imagine people who work or retirees with children and grandchildren going to a demonstration? They have the right to expect that they elect a president who is subordinate to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General, and the head of the KGB.
Who are obliged to restore order. Law enforcement agencies should restore order for their citizens, and not send pensioners to rallies in their place,” concluded Sergei Markov.
