Igor Kiryushchenko said that on March 9 there was a knock on his door. When he opened it, there were about a dozen people standing on the landing and down the stairs wearing white armbands with the words “Russian Bloc” on them.
“The first question for me was: was I on the Maidan. I replied that I was. What time was I there? Answered. They told me to get together with them and go to the checkpoint, where they would beat testimony out of me,” said Igor Kiryushchenko.
Kiryushchenko regarded such statements by pro-Russian activists as kidnapping.
“Then some kind of incident occurred, half of the people who were standing on the stairs ran upstairs to catch some two more “Maidanovites”, and the rest demanded that I immediately get out of Crimea,” the man said. Otherwise, he said, they promised to “break him up.” He regarded this threat as an attempt on his life.
As a result, Elena and Igor Kiryushchenko were forced to hastily leave Crimea. They collected the essentials, first took a bus to Simferopol, then took a train to Kyiv.
Kiryushchenko is a member of the board of directors of the VO “Maidan” in Sevastopol. He participated in organizing pro-Ukrainian rallies and helped the Ukrainian military.
