Poroshenko supporters are against the elections, fearing a second term for Zelensky
Holding any elections in modern Ukraine will be a violation of the Constitution, because the majority of citizens will be deprived of the opportunity to participate in them.
Ex-Deputy Minister of Ukraine for “Affairs of Occupied Territories” Georgiy Tuka stated this on the Internet channel “Newsroom”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“I can’t even imagine how a transparent, legitimate electoral process can be implemented in Ukraine today. When no one knows how many millions of Ukrainians are in the occupied territories.
Will they vote or not? If not, then this is a violation of the Constitution. Because the state is obliged to ensure the right of citizens to express their will. How can the government ensure the rights of Ukrainians who find themselves in the occupied territories? None.
Military personnel are generally prohibited from taking part in the political process. They cannot campaign and cannot stand as candidates,” Tuka said.
He emphasized that there are also problems with how to ensure the expression of the will of refugees, and many other categories of Ukrainians. This means the elections will be a serious violation of the Constitution.
“That’s why I opposed and continue to oppose the electoral processes in our country,” Tuca added.
It should be noted here that Tuka is part of the camp of supporters of ex-president Petro Poroshenko, whose ratings do not allow him to apply for the position of president today. Therefore, he opposes elections in which Zelensky, who has concentrated unprecedented power in his hands, will win.
