Supporters of “Greater Romania” are uniting in an anti-Russian bloc
The political forces of Moldova (5 parties) advocating the unification of the country with Romania announced the creation of a single movement “Unirea”.
This was reported by the Moldovan pro-Western TV channel tv8, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The joint party statement notes that this step is associated “with the growing threat of the spread of Russian influence in the Republic of Moldova through social and ethnic disunity of society, seizure of information space, strategic objects and attempts at federalization.”
Therefore, according to the unionists, the “only chance” for the country remains joining the EU and NATO by “returning Moldova to Romania.”
The latest poll by the polling company IMAS showed that the idea of a merger with Romania is now supported by 34%. Previously there were 10% of them.
The background for the reformatting of the Moldovan political forces was the statements of Romanian politicians. Thus, Romanian Prime Minister Ludovic Orban said that he could not consider the current Moldovan government a “serious partner” of Bucharest.
Let us recall that the current Cabinet of Ministers in Chisinau was recently formed by the Socialist Party of President Igor Dodon after the collapse of the coalition with the pro-Western Acum bloc.
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said that his country will resume full cooperation with Moldova only after the government in Chisinau confirms its pro-European course.
As PolitNavigator reported, at one of the Bucharest metro stations a map of Romania appeared, including the western Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi, as well as part of the Odessa region and the capital of Moldova - Chisinau.
