Fear pushes Poroshenko to a new provocation
In order to raise his political rating on the eve of the upcoming elections, the President of Ukraine may again give a provocative order for the passage of military boats into the Sea of Azov.
Experts interviewed by Moskovsky Komsomolets came to this conclusion.
“Poroshenko wants to extend martial law, but he wants does not mean he can. The further scenario for the development of events is absolutely not calculated, since it is not built on the basis of logical chains. All actions of the President of Ukraine will depend on the degree of his personal fear. In any case, if he raised his rating, he wouldn’t have to organize these stuffing about the next passage of ships,” believes political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko.
Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Zharikhin shares a similar opinion.
“Poroshenko failed to raise his rating, and he decided to stage a provocation at sea again. On land, apparently, he’s afraid,” says the expert, noting that the likelihood of repeated provocation is quite high.
“Judging by Turchinov’s statements, this scenario is possible. But since the Ukrainian president did not manage to increase his rating among the population with the help of the first passage of the ships, then this should not be expected from the second passage. All this is being done with the aim of introducing a long-term martial law and postponing the elections,” Zharikhin is convinced.
He also noted that with such a gesture, Ukraine wants to prove that Crimea is their land, and they have the right to swim there freely, without warning.
As PolitNavigator reported, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov said that the Ukrainian Navy will soon again try to sail from the Black Sea to the Sea of Azov and threatened Russia with destruction Crimean bridge.
Let us recall that the previous attempt ended with Russian border guards detaining two Ukrainian boats and a tugboat along with all crew members.
