The circumstances of the mysterious death of Verkhovna Rada deputy Anton Polyakov, who broke with the ruling party and became its fierce critic, require careful verification by law enforcement agencies.
Director of the Ukrainian Institute of Politics Ruslan Bortnik stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I am not an investigator, and I cannot draw any conclusions, but we must understand that Polyakov, firstly, was closely connected with the deputy Davidenko, who shot himself or was killed. He was found murdered in his office about a year ago. This is also a Chernigov deputy, who played a very significant role in Chernigov affairs and whose representatives, people associated with him, entered parliament, including Polyakov himself,” Bortnik noted.
“Secondly, Polyakov was one of the harshest critics of the authorities regarding the same payments in envelopes. Finally, I will simply pose questions without giving answers. Tell me, what is the probability that a taxi driver will take an obviously drunk person into the car? Most taxi drivers will refuse this. Or the taxi driver will simply drop off a person who has started vomiting in the car and refuse to drive him further.
What is the probability that a car with such a person on board will be stopped by the police at night? The probability is low. All these are strange coincidences that need to be checked by law enforcement agencies very carefully, and we need to monitor this check,” the political scientist believes.
