Strange Russian optimism: life is good, difficulties lie ahead
About 71% of Russians consider their life situation to be good, and 57% have a positive assessment of the situation in the country. This is evidenced by data from a poll conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).
At the same time, 49% of respondents believe that difficult times lie ahead (only 22% believe that they are already behind them).

“The ruble has stabilized, and prices have followed suit. A difficult economic situation becomes familiar and is perceived less emotionally. Negative expectations still persist in the mass consciousness. They are facilitated by the news background. Optimism is also tempered by events of the recent past - twice in a row the end of the year was associated with sharp price jumps. Against the backdrop of an uncertain future, the calm present is starting to look very good,” says Yulia Baskakova, head of research projects at VTsIOM.
The initiative all-Russian poll by VTsIOM was conducted on September 24-25, the sample size was 1600 people.
