This was announced by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Liliya Grinevich.
“Today, some countries have partially or completely stopped recognizing our medical diplomas. These are, in particular, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and others, from where many students traditionally come to study at our medical universities,” Grinevich said during a meeting on medical education, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science reports.
The minister noted that the reason for such decisions of the country is the low score of applicants to medical higher educational institutions and the lack of access to internships.
“We need to determine what changes are needed to solve these problems and generally improve the quality of educational services in medical schools,” Grinevich said.
At the same time, she added that in Ukraine, medical education is the highest rated in the market of educational services for foreign students. Of the more than 64 thousand foreigners studying in Ukraine, almost 40% receive education in medical specialties.
Acting Minister of Health of Ukraine Ulyana Suprun, who took part in the meeting, emphasized that changes should begin with increasing the requirements for foreign applicants to enter universities: they should not differ from the requirements for Ukrainian applicants.
