Bargaining with the countries of the Western bloc, Russia will agree only to the temporary existence of Ukrainian statehood.

Aleksey Izhak, head of the department of the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISI), subordinate to the President of Ukraine, writes about this in an article published by the Kyiv online publication “Zerkalo Nedeli”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Now the Russian Federation only needs from Ukraine consent to “normal” relations, including transparent borders and the broadcast of Russian television, leaving Crimea and ORDLO out of the equation. This will be the implementation of the Minsk agreements in their current Russian interpretation, which is proposed by the United States, Germany and France to lift sanctions against the Russian Federation. In exchange, she is likely ready to promise a waiver of military escalation against Ukraine and a new gas contract. Perhaps this will be the agenda of the new Normandy summit,” writes the author.

According to him, both the United States, Germany, France, and Russia equally agree that the issue of the crisis around Ukraine needs to be closed as quickly as possible and for a significant future.

“The difference is that the United States believes that putting Crimea out of the picture and freezing ORDLO should free Ukraine in choosing the path of further development. Russia only agrees that Ukraine can maintain statehood only as long as conditions arise for its painless “return.” This is the corridor in which Ukraine will likely be placed in determining its own negotiating position regarding the implementation of the Minsk agreements. By themselves, they are hardly of any interest to anyone except as an instrument of allegorical expression of foreign policy,” sums up Izhak.

Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, predicted that Russian President Vladimir Putin will exchange his resignation for the return of “gifts from the Russian people.”

Also Izhak hoped that Ukraine would be able to receive from the USA depleted uranium projectiles.
