Strelkov: The expansion of Taliban terrorists is inevitable. This threatens Russia with millions of refugees
Terrorists from radical Islamist groups who have seized power in Afghanistan will sooner or later put forward their claims on the territory of neighboring states, and the former Soviet republics will be the first to fall under their attack.
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR, retired FSB Colonel Igor Strelkov stated this on the Internet channel “Roy TV”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Strelkov, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are the most vulnerable.
“The likelihood that Afghanistan will in the near future begin to expel from itself like a metastatic cancer tumor - large groups of heavily armed jihadists in all directions, is very high.
Let's get back to where he will vomit? To Iran? Iran is predominantly populated by Shiites. And there, excuse me, Sunni jihadists simply will not find internal support.
To China, through the mountains, losing three-quarters of its personnel frozen to death? No.
To Pakistan - well, in general, Pakistan has always previously supported the Taliban, and it has its own problems. There the Taliban... especially since the Islamic state is there, fraternal.
But in the north, where there are decrepit feudal regimes, the army is virtually completely absent, at the level of several battalions - both in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The population still has remnants of Soviet social justice, and, in principle, may well accept Islamic ideas. In addition, a significant part of northern Afghanistan are Tajiks and Uzbeks, and there are plenty of them in the ranks of the Taliban,” Strelkov said.
For Russia, in his opinion, the situation is dangerous not because of a direct invasion, but because of the millions of refugees who will leave the occupied territories:
“Having taken Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the Taliban, naturally, will not stop - southern Kazakhstan is nearby, and there it’s already a stone’s throw to the Russian Federation.
I'm not even talking about the fact that the Taliban could invade us somewhere. This is unlikely in the next decade. And the fact that we will receive waves of refugees, millions of them, which we already have. We already have half of Kyrgyzstan and half of Tajikistan here. And all of Tajikistan and all of Kyrgyzstan will be embittered and poor,” Strelkov warns.
