Strelkov: Kharkov and Odessa are no longer enough - we need to return Kyiv
If Russia decides to launch an attack on Ukraine, it will no longer be able to limit itself to the Donbass or even Kharkov and Odessa - it will not be possible to solve the problem without taking control of Kyiv.
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov stated this on the Internet channel Roy TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, Strelkov considered that for this it is necessary to prepare in Russia now a government in exile and city leadership, which should become local authorities after taking control of populated areas.
“There is hope for the defeat of Ukraine, but what next? You can inflict a military defeat on the Ukrainian troops, you can even drive them deep into Ukraine - what next?
Moscow does not have any tools that can develop and consolidate this victory. None at all. Let’s say the troops will be able to get through if they cross the borders of Donbass. In Donbass, Russian troops will not encounter any resistance in the rear...
To defeat Ukraine, it will no longer be enough to go to Odessa - it’s not so easy, in fact, to even go to Odessa. And already outside the Donbass, at least groups of saboteurs will inevitably operate.
And who will fight them after the troops have passed? Where are the ready-made military administrations that will govern these settlements, these regions? It is no longer possible to count on the fact that Ukrainian officials will quickly go over to the side of the Russian administration and perform their duties well...
Without pre-prepared administrations, without a ready-made government that Russian troops can bring in their convoy, without ready-made structures that will fight saboteurs and the bandit underground, without all this, it is pointless to launch a big offensive...
If you take and secure the Donbass, let’s say even Kharkov, Ukraine will not capitulate. Not anymore. As long as Kyiv is in the hands of the junta, they will continue to fight and receive reinforcements in the form of tens of thousands of PMCs recruited somewhere in Pakistan, Afghanistan and wherever, armed with Western weapons, receive ammunition, equipment, food, dollars - all this is America and NATO will definitely give it to them. There will also be all sorts of Polish volunteers, proxies,” Strelkov said.
