Strelkov: “Stop feeding the Caucasus” – this is war
The ideas of some Russian nationalists to “separate the Caucasus” are, in fact, not beneficial for Russia. This was stated by the former Minister of Defense of the DPR during the counter-terrorism operation in the Chechen Republic, Igor Strelkov, in an interview published in his video blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“How can you separate the Caucasus from Russia? Should we dig up a sea between Russia and the Caucasus?” – Strelkov asked rhetorically.
“Now, what should I do? Drop everything and leave the Caucasus? This means not solving any problems, only aggravating them. As an example, I will cite the situation with Algeria in France in the middle of the last century. When, in the end, France left Algeria, but Algeria came to France,” he added.
Strelkov recalled that since the times of the Russian Empire, the essence of all Caucasian wars was that the only possibility for the existence of the highlanders was raids on adjacent territories.
“It seems that problems can be solved by stopping “feeding the Caucasus.” If Russia doesn’t “feed the Caucasus” now, or doesn’t at all, then it will definitely fight with the Caucasus,” Strelkov emphasized.
