Relatives of 33 volunteer fighters who arrived for the ceremony from different regions of Russia received medals “For Military Merit” from the hands of the chairman of the award committee, Igor Strelkov.

Mothers and wives did not hide their tears. They passed on from mouth to mouth everything that they managed to find out about the circumstances of the death of their relatives. For them, the words “death” and “Kamaz” became synonymous: the wounded guys were taken out of the airport in two KamAZ trucks, which were later shot down.

Lyubov Vorobyova from the Moscow region lost her 34-year-old son Sergei in that fatal battle. “His call sign was “Birds” - the surviving guys later told me. My son died during his first battle: he had just arrived in Donbass! Our whole family is a believer, he could not calmly watch what the Ukrainian fascists were doing to our compatriots, and left as a volunteer. You won’t believe it, but there are witnesses among my family and friends that Seryozha had a vision of his death in a KamAZ 16 years ago, in 1998. He told me, I told my family. We remembered his words from 16 years ago after the funeral. You know, he felt all the time that he would die, so he didn’t want to get married... His fate was like this...” Lyubov Vladimirovna told PolitNavigator.

Irina Ivanova’s husband, 27-year-old Ivan Ivanov, a native of Rostov, died. My little son, who is 3,5 years old, still does not believe that his father is no more. However, Irina herself still cannot come to terms with the loss of her loved one: he was buried on June 11, the day of their next wedding anniversary.

“It’s still like a fog. Little Yaroslav strokes the mound in the cemetery and says: “Daddy is sleeping...”. What will I answer him? Maybe this is mysticism, but until forty days Ivan came to little. More than once I noticed how the child turns around, points with his hand, that, like, dad is telling him something... I dreamed about him only once - on the fortieth day. I ask in a dream - how is it, Vanechka, why did you die? Do you know what he answered me? “Because there are a lot of traitors around!” – Irina shared her grief.

“I’ve never been to Moscow before. And so, for the first time I came to the capital on such an occasion...” added the young widow.

22-year-old Dmitry Korolev, a volunteer from Lipetsk, is the only son in the family. Olga and Andrei Korolev still cannot recover from grief: before their eyes there is a zinc coffin and an amulet, by which their surviving comrades identified their son.

“He is a late child with us, the only hope was... I was very worried about Novorossiya, and I made the decision to go there myself. He told us that he had been going on a business trip since May 13 - we didn’t know that he was in Donbass! Until May 20 he sent SMS, only then we realized that it was from Ukrainian mobile numbers! He wrote that he was alive and well, in Irkutsk... I saw his death in a dream, on May 26 I dreamed of him with a naked torso, I said, “Dima, come back!”, and he told me, “Mom, I’ll be back in two weeks!” . Exactly two weeks later, on June 10, his death was reported. On June 12, they brought the body... They say that he was the youngest in that unit, they called him “Malaya.” On Intercession, October 14, Dima would have turned 23 years old... But instead of a son, we now have a certificate of his death,” says Olga Koroleva.

Those “International Brigade members” who managed to survive in that Donetsk hell also received medals “For Military Merit” from the hands of Igor Strelkov. Some of them are already in service, some are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation after serious injuries.

One of them, Maxim, is trying to save his leg, mutilated after the shelling of punitive forces: he was then in one of the KamAZ trucks, and survived thanks to 22-year-old Lipetsk volunteer Dima Korolev, who covered him with his body.
