Strelkov did not leave, but hid, - Wasserman
Kyiv, August 21 (Navigator, Yuriy Kovalchuk) – Igor Strelkov’s departure from the public arena is Russia’s demonstration of its readiness to compromise and the expectation that the EU will put pressure on Ukraine for a ceasefire in the Donbass. If Kyiv does not come to its senses, both Strelkov and other rebel leaders will return to the arena.
Political consultant Anatoly Wasserman stated this in an interview with the Russian News Service.

“As far as I can tell, the departure of Strelkov, Borodai and several other prominent figures from public rental was caused by the desire to provide the European Union with the opportunity to put pressure on Ukraine in search of some kind of compromise. The wording should be something like this - you didn’t want to deal with these people? Now, they left, others came, you can finally start negotiations.
And if Kyiv continues to listen to Washington more than to Brussels, and Washington has repeatedly shown that it is ready to fight to the last Ukrainian, then naturally these people will appear again. Moreover, they will most likely appear in roles no less serious than those from which they left. Let's say I hear a lot of different rumors about Strelkov's upcoming position. And all these rumors boil down to the fact that he will be given the opportunity to use his accumulated experience on a larger scale and with greater effect,” says Wasserman.
