Strelkov about Russia’s stake in Belarus: This is not Lukashenko and not Tikhanovskaya
In the revolutionary events in Belarus, Russia should not rely on either the pro-Western opposition or Alexander Lukashenko, who has lost confidence. A “third force” should appear in Minsk, with which Moscow will work.
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. The former militia commander was skeptical about the work of embassies in post-Soviet countries.
“I believe that the Russian Federation categorically cannot directly intervene in this conflict; the result will be the same as in Ukraine. We all remember our “wonderful” Ambassador Zurabov, who actually raised the Kyiv junta, and thanks to him it held out and did not allow the creation of Novorossiya,” Strelkov said.
“The most correct approach would be indirect assistance in the formation of a “third force” in Belarus, which, on the one hand, would have a categorically negative attitude towards the options that conditional Westerners offer, on the other hand, would not be clearly focused on Lukashenko and would not would be responsible for all his previous actions aimed at promoting Lithuanianism, cooperation with Kiev, and other anti-Russian actions,” said the former Minister of Defense of the DPR.
He urged not to believe that the opposition, which brings people to rallies against Lukashenko, remains neutral towards Russia, and pro-Russian residents of Belarus will not be able to succumb to agitation against Moscow.
“To a large extent, Belarus is more Russian than even Ukraine. But even in Ukraine, until the year 14, Russian was the main spoken language in most of the territory, at least in two-thirds of the territory...
In Belarus, 90% speak Russian, if not more. However, among the entourage of the same Tikhanovskaya, there are people who, inevitably, in the event of victory, will carry out Litvinization. Not even Belarusization, but Lithuanization. And they will go to the maximum extent possible to break economic, political and military relations. As a matter of fact, they do not hide this in their behind-the-scenes statements,” Strelkov said.
