Donetsk - Kyiv, July 11 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov ordered the fortification of Donetsk in case of a possible assault by Ukrainian troops. At the same time, the task was set of clearing the city of looters and saboteurs - so far the capital of Donbass is strikingly different in this sense from Slavyansk, where order and iron discipline reigned.

Igor Druz, Strelkov’s advisor, told Navigator about this.

“It’s like we’ve entered another world. In Slavyansk we had no electricity, no water, no mobile communications; we often slept in dugouts and bomb shelters, or right in the trenches, falling asleep under artillery cannonade. And the fact that you have to sleep on the floor, side by side with many comrades - these are just little things in life. We have virtually no conflicts and never have had them. The militias are very friendly, they have long become one big family, they hug when they meet, happily meeting comrades in arms who escaped from encirclement in different groups and columns. There are many people with many children in our community. After all, the core of the detachment is Orthodox people, only sometimes people with other views come across. But everyone behaves very decently.

...After all this, Donetsk, with its hot water, light, communications, working shops, seems like a real paradise. And I want it to always be like this. Preserving the peaceful life of the city is a top priority for us. In Slavyansk, we generally had very strict discipline, and individual cases of looting were punished according to martial law, up to and including execution. But there were almost no such cases. Another thing is Donetsk. Alas, negative phenomena occur here among the militia. Therefore, DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov sees one of his main tasks as taking measures to restore order and lawfulness in Donetsk. It is especially necessary to force the pseudo-militia, but in reality, rioters and looters, to order. Without this, the city’s defense cannot be strengthened. I am sure that all these shortcomings will be corrected by him soon,” said Druz.

“And now it is already quite obvious that critics of the withdrawal of troops from Slavyansk are dissatisfied with precisely this appearance of an incorruptible patriot in Donetsk. He breaks the dirty schemes of political corrupt officials in Kyiv, Moscow and Donbass. They would be more satisfied with the heroic death of him and his people in Slavyansk,” added Strelkov’s adviser.

“Initially, some local oligarchs wanted to use the Donbass secession project for bidding with Kiev, and then they thought of quietly “merging” the DPR project. Unfortunately, they also had accomplices from the “fifth column” in Moscow. The emergence of a real and powerful anti-Bandera movement in the Donbass, which is generally beyond their control, did not suit them

Nevertheless, thank God, healthy forces are gaining the upper hand both in Moscow and Donbass. Igor Strelkov became the commandant of Donetsk. And this is a consequence of consensus. The crime situation is improving. It is, of course, far from ideal, but it is already getting easier. On the first day, the militia detained 50 people for violating law and order during the curfew; on the second, 30. That is, there are much fewer drunken hooligans and other criminals. But honest people have nothing to fear. Honest people don’t walk drunk down dark streets at one in the morning and don’t break shop windows.

We have plans to limit the sale of alcohol. Drunkenness at all times, and especially during war, is a source of crime, and this is well understood in the militia, which lives according to the standards of sobriety.

There is confidence that, despite all the excesses, law and order will be fully restored in the city,” assured Igor Druz.
