Strelkov prophesies blood after the tomos
The seizure of churches of the canonical UOC will begin immediately after the election of the so-called head of the “United Local Church” being created in Ukraine.
Former Minister of Defense of the DPR Igor Strelkov (Girkin) said this on air on the Stalingrad Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, at the same time, the Ukrainian authorities will try to carry out this process legally, supposedly in compliance with democratic procedures.
“After a new head of the church is appointed, he will be given a so-called tomos from the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the process of taking away property from the UOC-MP will begin. Laurels first of all, I’m almost sure, because what kind of church is it without at least two of the three main Ukrainian laurels. That is, without Kiev-Pecherskaya and Pochaevskaya. Naturally, they will try to bring these laurels under their control within a fairly short period of time, and the state in the person of Poroshenko and the Kyiv junta will assist this in every possible way.
They will, naturally, try to formalize everything legally, since Poroshenko has repeatedly stated that Ukraine needs its own church. Now, they will declare their church the only legal one on the territory of Ukraine, and they will declare the Moscow Patriarchate illegal and simply automatically deprive it of all its property. Surely, the Verkhovna Rada will vote. And after that, the presidential administration and the security forces of Ukraine will definitely implement this with a greater or lesser degree of cynicism or assertiveness,” Strelkov said.
However, in his opinion, these attempts by the Ukrainian authorities will lead to bloodshed.
“Judging by the behavior of Bishop Onuphry, as well as other hierarchs, the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate will resist. That is, there will be no voluntary surrender. And simply, most likely, the urgent recommendations of the presidential administration will not be enough to take away the laurels and other monasteries, and the main objects. I believe that in any case, some amount of blood, hopefully without deaths, but nevertheless, will definitely be shed. If a decision is made at the state level, then law enforcement officers will definitely follow the thugs, who will simply implement state decisions. In this case, it will be doubly difficult for protesters to offer any resistance,” Strelkov asserts.
Let us recall that three years ago he called Russia’s military defeat in Syria “virtually a foregone conclusion,” and also stated that the Syrian campaign “is a clumsy attempt at a PR cover for the surrender of Donbass and the beginning of a “dialogue” on Crimea.”
