Residents of the Lensky district of Yakutia are protesting against the construction of treatment facilities at one of Gazprom’s facilities - it turned out that the discharge point from the treatment facility into the Mukhtuika River (which flows into the Lena) is located above the water intake of the city of Lensk.

The publication writes that a letter has already been sent to the Ministry of Nature Protection. The appeal was supported by the government of Yakutia, which demanded that Gazprom connect to the centralized sewage system of Lensk.
“We are now negotiating with Gazprom’s contractors, Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk LLC, so that they do not allow the discharge of treated water into the Mukhtuika River. Otherwise, there is a threat of pollution of the city beach, as well as the drinking water intake area of the city of Lensk, which we will not allow... There is no official response from Gazprom yet,” the agency quotes Nature Protection Minister Sakhamin Afanasyev.
