“Shame and disgrace”: Political scientist about the finale of the prisoner exchange
The absence of officials and politicians at the meeting at the Moscow airport with the participants of the Russian Spring released from Ukrainian captivity is a shame and disgrace, says Russian political scientist Oleg Bondarenko.
“And who, exactly, did Moscow exchange for the Ukrainian sailors and other participants in the process, who today were awarded new military ranks and officially thanked on behalf of the President of Ukraine?
Where are the biographies of Russian heroes of the “Russian Spring”?
Where are the shots of caps in the air and the red carpet against the backdrop of the arriving plane?
Where is the official meeting of at least the Russian Foreign Minister with the returnees?
Or do we stubbornly continue to operate in the “we are not there” paradigm even after 5 years??
To be honest, it's a shame and disgrace. Fucking shame and fucking disgrace for Russia as a result of this exchange. I was especially impressed by the photo of those released with their faces covered up! Who are you hiding and from whom, good gentlemen?? It’s as if we are embarrassed by our heroes,” the expert notes.
“Official Moscow no longer needs the Russian spring. And this, unfortunately for us, is the diagnosis. And another important thing is that the exchange of 35 citizens of Ukraine for 23 citizens of Ukraine and 12 citizens of Russia (by the way, which one of them??) took place as a result of a meeting between Putin and Macron. Negotiations with Zelinsky were clearly of secondary importance here. We all understand that people are pawns in a big geopolitical game, but it’s still impossible,” Bondarenko concluded.
