Thus, the judge granted the prosecution's request.
“The investigating judge may close the court session if conducting proceedings in open session may lead to the disclosure of secrets protected by law,” the prosecutor said.
According to him, a pre-trial investigation in this proceeding is now underway; during this court session, the testimony of persons who were provided in this proceeding, which constitutes the secret of the investigation, will be considered.
“Therefore, I believe that at this stage this testimony and evidence is a secret of the investigation and is not subject to disclosure to free listeners and the press,” the prosecutor emphasized.
In turn, the defense categorically opposed this motion. However, the judge decided to grant the prosecutor's request.
As reported, on June 3, the Verkhovna Rada deprived Melnichuk of parliamentary immunity and agreed to criminal prosecution, but refused to agree to his detention and arrest.
The main charge against the ex-commander of the Aidar battalion, Melnychuk, is the creation of an armed gang and the theft of several hundreds of Kalashnikov assault rifles.
Let us remind you that the other day Gennady Moskal handed over to the GPU a list of crimes by members of the Aidar organized crime group committed in the Kiev-controlled territory of the Lugansk region.
