The court left the hero of the Russian Spring behind bars, increasing the fine
Today, the court in Sevastopol, which again, at the request of the defense, considered the case of the leader of the “Russian Bloc” Gennady Basov, decided to leave the politician behind bars, increasing the fine 7 times - to 35 million rubles.
Basov was previously sentenced to 9 years on charges of corruption. His lawyers claim that the politician became a victim of a “set-up” after he tried to destroy shadow schemes in the funeral sector of Sevastopol, which have been operating since Ukrainian times and were “protected” by “werewolves in uniform.”

The press service of the Russian Bloc released a statement from Basov, in which he calls the new sentence a consequence of “mutual responsibility.”
“The verdict itself is a direct discredit not only of justice, but also of the authorities themselves. The court found that my duties included destroying the business of competitors and limiting their activities. I was found guilty of inaction, of not interfering with the earnings of entrepreneurs and not interfering with their work. According to the court verdict, I was obliged to destroy the business of competitors. Such a verdict not only determines who is the boss in the city, but also suggests that the words of the country’s top leadership about the inadmissibility of limiting the rights of entrepreneurs in Sevastopol today are nothing more than empty words. In Moscow there are some rules and laws, but in our city they are different,” says Basov.
“In court, we irrefutably proved the falsification of the criminal case and the provocation of a bribe. And I am sincerely pleasantly surprised that one of the judges refused to sign the obviously unjust ruling. This leaves hope that decent people work in the judicial system in our city. My comrades and I will continue to be active... We will definitely challenge the court decision,” the politician promised.
