The Supreme Court of Crimea confirmed the decision of the Saki District Court to terminate the criminal case against businessman Sergei Beim. It was his fault that a fatal accident occurred in July last year. Beym was accused under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - violation of traffic rules, resulting in the death of a person through negligence, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The owner of a network of Crimean gas stations, driving his Lexus LX 570 at full speed, decided to go around the traffic jam on the side of the road, which always forms at the entrance to the city of Saki in the summer. The businessman did not notice that other cars had stopped to let the Toyota turn left. With all his might, he crashed into the right side of the turning car in which the family was traveling. The 67-year-old grandmother of the family and her 11-year-old grandson were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The woman did not survive. For her death, Beim paid 17 million rubles in financial compensation, and the victims wrote a statement saying that they had no claims against the businessman and asked to release the culprit of the accident from criminal punishment. The Saki District Court stopped considering the case due to the reconciliation of the parties.

This is not the first time Beim has gotten away with criminal prosecution. When he was the head of the State Unitary Enterprise Chernomorneftegaz, 4 criminal cases were opened against him for the illegal sale of company property and abuse of official position. During the prosecutor's investigation, Beym was removed from his duties, and prosecutor Natalya Poklonskaya reproached the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the lack of an “offensive position” and transferred the case to the Investigative Committee for the Republic of Crimea.

“They relate to procurement violations and malfeasance. Also, former General Director Sergei Beim concluded an agreement for the purchase of fuel through gas stations controlled by him. Thus, the money was simply transferred,” Poklonskaya said then.

In addition, a lot of violations were discovered at the enterprise at that time, including the lack of accounting for produced and sold gas, as well as gas condensate. The quality of diesel fuel and gasoline did not meet established standards. Based on the results of the internal audit, Beim left the position of general director of Chernomorneftegaz.
