The court recognized the absurdity of accusing the leader of the Russian Bloc of corruption
The defense of the leader of the Russian Bloc, Gennady Basov, won the appeal - another, fourth decision was made in the case, according to which Basov is no longer a corrupt official. This was reported by the politician's press service.
Let us remind you that Basov has been behind bars for about two years. He was initially arrested on charges of extorting a bribe. However, lawyers insisted that the leader of the Russian Bloc was a victim of provocation. According to them, this happened after Basov began to fight the “cemetery mafia” in Sevastopol, which was formed in the funeral services market back in Ukrainian times and was “protected” by corrupt security officials.
All this time, the defense proved the absurdity of Basov’s charges of corruption, since his position did not provide for the opportunity to threaten businessmen working in the funeral market, allegedly extorting money from them.

In the second year of the fight, the lawyers achieved the dismissal of the charges under corruption, but the court reclassified the claims against Basov as “attempted fraud.” The sentence was commuted from 9 to 6 years behind bars, the multimillion-dollar fine was reduced to 500 thousand rubles.
However, such a verdict also does not suit the defense; it intends to seek a complete acquittal of the hero of the Russian Spring.
“He has now been found guilty of attempted fraud. According to the new version of the court, Basov, through third parties, misled an entrepreneur who, not even knowing Basov, tried to transfer funds. The court did not indicate in the verdict why the entrepreneur was mistaken as many as five times if he tried to transfer money together with police officers. Also, the reasons why the heads of these law enforcement officers did not lead the entrepreneur and their subordinates out of the world of delusions are not stated, if this was not an attempt to falsify a criminal case?
The chain of deluded individuals from a world not involved in law enforcement agencies turned out to be prohibitively long and unproven. A new verdict, just as unjust as the previous one. Today there is no reason to doubt Basov’s innocence, and the “Russian Bloc” will continue to actively work until his complete rehabilitation,” the “Russian Bloc” emphasizes.
Basov’s associates intend to soon submit to the court all the necessary documents for a new review of the verdict.
“It is alarming that under the article of attempted fraud, Basov was sentenced to one of the most severe punishments in the entire history of Russia. This article, in the form of an attempt, provides for punishment ranging from a fine to seven and a half years. The leader of the Republic of Belarus was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony, which indirectly confirms the fact of deliberate persecution. A huge amount of irrefutable evidence of Basov’s innocence and evidence of falsification of the criminal case was presented to the court. However, representatives of Themis once again evaded their assessment, which may also indicate mutual responsibility and the ordered nature of the criminal case,” the organization’s statement says.
