The court pacified Navalnist Mukhamed for five years
The Tver court sentenced Moscow State University student Said-Mukhamed Dzhumaev to five years in prison, who on January 23, at a rally in support of criminal blogger Alexei Navalny, attacked riot police.
The prosecutor's office asked for a sentence of 6 years in prison, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the trial, Dzhumaev apologized to the victims and paid them 50 thousand rubles in compensation. Also during the investigation, he changed his name to Mikail Markhiev.
After the incident on Pushkin Square, Dzhumaev tried to escape; the police detained him in the forests in the Pskov region. The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, then called Dzhumaev a “cowardly jackal” for his alleged escape attempt.
State Duma deputy from Chechnya Adam Delimkhanov promised Dzhumaev help if he surrendered to the police. Later, his assistant explained that the deputy meant legal assistance.
Dzhumaev’s parents, in his words, stated that during the fight the student was “in a state of insanity” because he received a blow to the head.
