The court in Kharkov refused to change the sentence of the oldest Ukrainian political prisoner

Today, the appeal court in Kharkov, at a closed session, upheld the sentence (12 years in prison) for 85-year-old political prisoner Mehdi Logunov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was reported on social networks by journalist Pavel Volkov, who in the past was also prosecuted on political charges after Mvidan, but was acquitted by the court.

“Despite the fact that in the prosecution materials the SBU investigator directly wrote that the flash drive with the “state secret” was made by the SBU itself as part of a provocation operation and handed over to Logunov, that Logunov did not give it to any agents of the FSB, KGB and OGPU, no one cares about anything . In fact, this is a life sentence on trumped-up charges, the fabrication of which is known to everyone. But Nazi criminals from the Freikorps (Kharkiv youth paramilitary ultra-right formation - Ed) freely put pressure on the court with their posters and chants, freely walk around with Nazi symbols prohibited by law, and law enforcement officers do not react to this at all,” Volkov’s message says.

“There is a cassation process ahead, which is now hard to believe. Only exchange. Ukraine will again exchange its “wrong” citizens for “correct ones,” the journalist concluded, complaining that the court has once again “bent in” to far-right “activists.”
