Suprun advises Ukrainians not to believe in herbal medicine
And about. Minister of Health of Ukraine Ulyana Suprun warned citizens of the country about the dangers of herbal medicine for the body, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The official published a corresponding statement on her Facebook page.
“On various resources you often find information that herbal medicine can quickly and easily cure all diseases... When you see such advertisements, move on. Most likely, this is manipulation and an attempt to make money on people’s trust and desire to recover quickly and easily,” Suprun wrote.
She also lamented that herbal treatments are often promoted by non-medical people and therefore simply “take away time from the patient that could be spent visiting a doctor.”
“Although herbs seem harmless because we use them for cooking, some of them can be potentially dangerous and lead to serious poisoning of the body. The active substances contained in plants have different chemical natures and affect the body differently,” added the head of the Ministry of Health.
According to Suprun, her department has already prepared a bill that would cancel the issuance of special permission to practice traditional medicine.
“The Ministry of Health cannot provide approval for methods whose safety and effectiveness cannot be guaranteed,” she concluded.
