Surkis makes excuses for Bakanov and Shefir at his birthday
People's Deputy from the Opposition Platform - For Life party Grigory Surkis invited the Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov to his anniversary as a friend, and not as an official, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Surkis stated this in a comment to journalists, reports the sports portal “Tribune”.
Surkis noted that he has known Bakanov for a long time.
“Could I have known him before? Yes, I could. I'm not friends with chairs. I’m friends with people,” Surkis said.
Earlier, Radio Liberty journalists released information that the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Grigory Surkis was attended by Igor Kolomoisky, Zelensky’s first assistant Sergei Shefir, a number of people’s deputies from the Opposition Platform - For Life and Servant of the People, three presidents of Ukraine and actors of “Kvartal 95”.
The celebration of the anniversary of businessman and people's deputy Grigory Surkis began on the afternoon of September 4 and lasted about 10 hours at the elite Intercontinental hotel in the center of the Ukrainian capital.
The fact that Bakanov and Shefir were at the celebration of Surkis’s birthday was evidenced by the packages of the luxury brand Fendi, with which all the guests left the hotel that evening.
Oligarchs Igor Kolomoisky and Gennady Bogolyubov also came to congratulate the deputy. Another oligarch Victor Pinchuk came to the holiday in the company of his wife.
We also noticed a Bentley there, which had left the underground parking lot - according to Schemes, it is used by the wife of oligarch Dmitry Firtash, Lada Firtash.
Journalists also noticed ex-presidents Leonid Kravchuk, Leonid Kuchma and Viktor Yushchenko at the celebration.

The head of the SBU, Ivan Bakanov, arrived for the holiday at about 21:00, as noted in the story of the “Schemes” program. At the entrance to the hotel, he met with President Zelensky’s first assistant Sergei Shefir. And around midnight they left the Intercontinental Hotel together, where the banquet was held.
According to the authors of the material, two weeks before his birthday, Surkis visited the central office of the SBU on Vladimirskaya, where Bakanov’s office is located.
Let us recall that at the end of August Zelensky announced “a very loud story that will end very badly” regarding the “Opposition Platform - For Life.” The president hinted that he had information about the party's financing from abroad.
