Surkov: “The Americans have become polite. They want to steal something from us."
The Russian Federation and the United States may become closer and even embrace each other.
This opinion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, is expressed by ex-aide to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov, whose answer to the question “What do you think can be expected from the upcoming Russian-American summit next week?” quotes Moscow political scientist Alexey Chesnakov.
“I do not and cannot have any comments regarding this specific summit meeting.
I think there is complex, delicate work going on there, and it would be tactless to meddle in with your assessments and forecasts. I can only share my impressions from many years of observing relations between the USSR/Russia and the USA. Can Moscow and Washington get closer? Yes they can. This has happened before. They may even embrace each other. But it will NOT be a tango, it will be a clinch,” Surkov said.
“At some point in the fight, opponents may be interested in a clinch. Hang on each other to temporarily immobilize your partner. Mark time, touch each other, breathe in each other's faces. Sometimes this looks preferable to hitting each other with backhands. But this is not certain,” added the former aide to the Russian President.
He also cited the words of one of his friends.
“Once upon a time we studied in the same course. He was from Peru. His name was Jesus. In Spanish Jesus. He said: “If gringos (i.e. Americans) talk to you rudely, it means they want to take something away from you. And if the gringos talk to you politely, it means they want to steal something from you.” This is what Jesus said. Now the gringos can be heard speaking politely. Consequently, we will soon understand what exactly they want to steal from us,” says Surkov.
