Surkov did not want to “merge” Donbass, he created a “shining structure” - Prilepin
The curator of the Ukrainian direction, Vladislav Surkov, who was fired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, did not intend to “throw” the DPR and LPR into Ukraine; he wanted to work as a “diplomatic center” between a variety of interest groups.
The Russian writer, former battalion commander of one of the units in the DPR, and now the leader of the new party “For Truth”, Zakhar Prilepin, stated this in the “Beware, Sobchak” program, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I do not demonize the figure of Surkov. What he is really famous for is that he knows how to imbue his activities with parasitic meanings. Parasitic in the sense that he is so mysterious, that he is so huge, that he controls so many things, that he changes the life of Russia and the future of Russia. We suspect that there is something there, but in reality there is nothing there!” Prilepin noted.
The writer said that he does not consider Surkov’s Ukrainian policy a failure.
“The main part of Surkov’s efforts was aimed at ensuring that something worked out there, something that should work out. He was not going to push the Donbass into Ukraine, to merge the Donbass.
He wanted to somehow work as a diplomatic center between a variety of interests: between Ukraine, Russia, oligarchs, business, the military, militias, America. Build some kind of shining structure out of a conglomeration of interests. He didn’t quite build it,” added Prilepin.
According to him, someone’s interests “turned out to be more convincing” for Surkov. “He wanted to say: “I, Vladislav Yuryevich Surkov, did this!” Look, it’s shining!” He had such a goal, but somewhere he may have stumbled,” the writer concluded.
