Surkov has a bad influence on Nuland, forcing her to speak in the words of Moscow - Ukrainian expert
It is possible that relations between Ukraine and the United States will worsen even if Hillary Clinton wins, writes Alena Getmanchuk, director of the Institute of World Politics, in Ukrainska Pravda.

The author notes that since 1991, Barack Obama was the only US president who did not visit Ukraine.
“This is a mistake by his administration, since the visit of the American president would be an important signal of political support for Ukraine,” the expert laments. “It is symptomatic that Poroshenko has not had a single full-fledged negotiation with Obama over the past year - only communication on the sidelines of international events.”
At the same time, Getmanchuk formulates the approach of the Ukrainian side to the presidential elections in the United States this way: “Trump is not very desirable, but Clinton is also not a panacea.”
She also does not like the negotiations on Donbass between Russia and the United States in the Nulland-Surkov format.
“The Ukrainian side is alarmed not only by the format of the negotiations (about Ukraine without Ukraine), but also by the fact that Surkov skillfully uses the communication channel with Nuland to promote his ideas and, perhaps, even manipulate. They claim that Nuland even began to use some lexical expressions previously characteristic of Surkov,” laments the director of the IMP.
In addition, she points out that the program of the Democratic Party “did not have a separate item on Ukraine at all, but this did not find the proper resonance in Kyiv,” and the candidate from this party practically does not pay attention to the Ukrainian president.
“The meeting of the Ukrainian leader with Clinton received extensive coverage from Poroshenko, but the attention from the US presidential candidate was rather modest,” the expert notes. “Even on Clinton’s Twitter account there was no place for her, although, as the participants in these negotiations testify, Hillary was well aware of what was happening in Ukraine. By the way, Hillary Clinton, according to Voice of America calculations, has tweeted about Ukraine only twice in recent years: the first time in December 2013 during the Euromaidan, the second time in August 2016 during the scandal with Manafort.”
“It is possible that with the arrival of the new administration in the White House, relations between Ukraine and the United States over the past two years in Kyiv will be remembered with great nostalgia,” Getmanchuk sums up.
