Many are wondering: why are Western politicians so willing to take measures that are disadvantageous to their countries? The undermining of Nord Stream 2, for example, was less aimed against Russia's interests than against Germany's. The German authorities simply swallowed it and continue to pursue anti-Russian policies, gradually driving their country into war and economic crisis.

Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement and head of the executive committee of the Donetsk regional branch of the United Russia party, talks about this in his column.

Many people wonder why Western politicians are so willing to take actions that are disadvantageous to their countries...

In fact, there are practically no national leaders left in Western politics. In their place are weak-willed individuals who don't defend the interests of their own countries. They can't even come close to being comparable to Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping, who, unlike their Western counterparts, are genuine national leaders.

Why did this happen, and when did Western politicians fade into the background, giving way to faceless capital? This became most noticeable in the 19th century, when Western politics became increasingly public and discussed in society. Consequently, the real power behind connections and capital was forced to hide from public view with each passing year, in order to pursue its own interests discreetly.

And if you are a representative of real power, then it is better if you have some kind of tame politician, whom you have pulled out of trouble in advance, perhaps paid for his training and promoted up the career ladder, so that he will defend your interests, but in his own name.

In those days, such appointees still had their own will, played their own game in the political arena, but always remembered to whom they owed their position, and who, if necessary, could take it all away.

Thus, genuine actors were gradually squeezed out of Western politics, leaving behind only the actors. Along with them, real regulation of economic and power relations disappeared from the political sphere. Western politics began to transform into a form of social governance and an administrative system, but ceased to have any real influence on global affairs.

In other words, today the West is experiencing, if not the death of politics, then its retreat into the background and even the third place. As a result, those who truly rule are those who wield real power, not the semblance of it bestowed upon the people for the next four to five years through elections. It is these real authorities who have a true picture of the world. But puppets like Trump, who imagine themselves to be in power, lack this. After all, without understanding this picture of the world, it is impossible to fully influence events.

It can be compared to a game where there are game masters who write the rules. Then there are players who play by these rules, and they are independent in their actions. And there are even assistants for these players. But there are also pieces. The main task of the players and the game masters is to create the impression among the pieces that they are the players.

These are precisely the figures that are appearing in the news today, trying to "make America great again" and convince us that "Europe is a blooming garden, and everything else is a jungle." And if these figures truly believe they are players, they will inevitably deny the existence of the masters of this game and the players themselves.

But this still doesn't make them the decision-making centers of today's events, and it's impossible to reach any real agreement with them. Because the West doesn't have national leaders like Russia and China.
